Copy a DVD 1:1


This is a short point by point guide how to backup a DVD with IfoEdit v0.9


Copy a DVD-5 (< 4.38 GB) to DVD-R

  What to do: Refering guides
1: Rip your complete DVD (All files) to HD into a folder named 'VIDEO_TS' and make sure the folder name is uppercase. Use Smartripper or DVD Decrypter for that job. Ripping guide
2: Open any IFO file with IfoEdit and press 'Get VTS Sectors' to make sure all start sectors are correct. When asked, click 'Yes' to check all IFO files. On a DVD-5 there should not be any different start sector. Get VTS Sectors'
3: To make your DVD region free, open the file 'VIDEO_TS.IFO' with IfoEdit and press 'Region free'.
If IfoEdit tells you that no RCE checking was found, save this IFO files and you're done and may proceed to the burning section. But if RCE checking was found, you must load all other IFO files too, and repeat the 'Region free' procedure.

4: Now you may burn the VIDEO_TS folder with a burning tool using my burning guides. If have trouble with this, then start IfoEdit again, load any IFO file and press 'Create Image' to let IfoEdit create an image for you. That one can then be burned with any burning tool except Nero! Burning guides / 'Create Image'

 


Copy a DVD-9 (> 4.38 GB) to DVD-R keeping the original Menu

  What to do: Refering guides
1: Rip your complete DVD (All files) to HD into a folder named 'VIDEO_TS' and make sure the folder name is uppercase. Use Smartripper or DVD Decrypter for that job. Ripping guide
2: Open any IFO file with IfoEdit and press 'DVD Play' and let it play until the movie starts. Now exit the player, and IfoEdit will tell you which titles will be needed to keep the DVD playable.

Open VIDEO_TS.IFO to lookup which title belongs to which title-set (Set of IFO/VOB files).

3: Start IfoEdit, and load the VTS_xx_0.IFO of the main movie VOB's.
Now you may press the button 'VOB Extras' or you can select one of the quick options from the Menu 'VOB Extras'. 
A dialog will apear, where you can select what processes you would like to do.
If you have used one the quick-menu-option, then all options are already preset perfecly.
If you selected to strip or/and to re-mux, then you must specify a destination directory.
If you selected to split, then you must specify two destination directories.

4: If you selected to strip streams, a second dialog will apear, where you have to select which audio/subpicture(subtitle) stream you want to KEEP!!!
The first audio/subpicture stream is already preselected.

If you selected to strip VOB-IDs, another dialog will apear, where you have to select which VOB-IDs you want to KEEP!!!

5: After this is finished, IfoEdit created a new IFO file of the processed Movie and the VOB files of your movie in the specified destination directory. Now there are some files missing like the Menu-VOB file, the Video-Manager files (VIDEO_TS.xxx) and the other title-set files. You must copy now the missing files and the files you noted in step 2, manualy to your destination directory. Copying missing files
6: Close IfoEdit now before proceeding any other steps.  
7: Open any IFO file with IfoEdit and press 'Get VTS Sectors' to correct all start sectors. When asked, click 'Yes' to correct all IFO files. Get VTS Sectors'
8: To make your DVD region free, open the file 'VIDEO_TS.IFO' with IfoEdit and press 'Region free'.
If IfoEdit tells you that no RCE checking was found, save this IFO files and you're done and may proceed to the burning section. But if RCE checking was found, you must load all other IFO files too, and repeat the 'Region free' procedure.

9: Now you may burn the VIDEO_TS folder with a burning tool using my burning guides. If have trouble with this, then start IfoEdit again, load any IFO file and press 'Create Image' to let IfoEdit create an image for you. That one can then be burned with any burning tool except Nero! 8 What to do: Refering guides

2: Start IfoEdit, and load the VTS_xx_0.IFO of the main movie VOB's.
Now you may press the button 'VOB Extras' or you can select one of the quick options from the Menu 'VOB Extras'. In that case you would select: 'VOB-Extras -> Create new IFOs'
A dialog will apear, where you can select what processes you would like to do.
If you have used one the quick-menu-option, then all options are already preset perfecly.

That one can then be burned with any burning tool except Nero! Burning guides / 'Create Image'

 


Copy a DVD-9 (> 4.38 GB) to 2 DVD-Rs

  What to do: Refering guides
1: Rip your complete DVD (All files) to HD into a folder named 'VIDEO_TS' and make sure the folder name is uppercase. Use Smartripper or DVD Decrypter for that job. Ripping guide
2: Open any IFO file with IfoEdit and press 'DVD Play' and let it play until the movie starts. Now exit the player, and IfoEdit will tell you which titles will be needed to keep the DVD playable.

Open VIDEO_TS.IFO to lookup which title belongs to which title-set (Set of IFO/VOB files).

3: Prepare two empty directories and name them for example Disc1 and Disc2. Create in each of these directories a directory called 'VIDEO_TS'.  
4: Start IfoEdit, and load the VTS_xx_0.IFO of the main movie VOB's.
Now you may press the button 'VOB Extras' or you can select one of the quick options from the Menu 'VOB Extras'. In that case you would select: 'VOB-Extras -> Split to 2 DVD-Rs'
A dialog will apear, where you can select what processes you would like to do.
If you have used the quick-menu-option, then all options are already preset perfecly. You just need to specify the two destination directories.

5: If you selected to strip streams, a second dialog will apear, where you have to select which audio/subpicture(subtitle) stream you want to KEEP!!!

If you selected to strip VOB-IDs, another dialog will apear, where you have to select which VOB-IDs you want to KEEP!!!

6: After this is finished, IfoEdit created a new IFO file of the processed Movie and the VOB files of your movie in the specified destination directories. 9: To make your DVD region free, open the file 'VIDEO_TS.IFO' with IfoEdit and press 'Region free'.
If IfoEdit tells you that no RCE checking was found, save this IFO files and you're done and may proceed to the burning section. But if RCE checking was found, you must load all other IFO files too, and repeat the 'Region free' procedure.
